These are a Halloween tradition in our household!
Caramel sauce and nuts
If you make your own caramel sauce, you'll need sugar and heavy cream
Choose tart green apples, like Granny Smiths.
Slice off the top of the apple and hollow it out with a melon baller or teaspoon.
Create a sundae in each shell. We like a scoop of salted caramel ice cream drizzled with caramel sauce. Sprinkle with chopped pecans.
To make your own caramel sauce, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of water in a saucepan over high heat. Cook, stirring often, until mixture is dark. Remove the pan from the stove and pour in 1 cup of heavy cream slowly. Whisk the mixture until smooth. Cool.
